In 2024, Chișinău Municipality recorded the highest growth of the small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) sector in the last five years – 6.9% compared to the previous year.
By the end of last year, over 41,000 small and medium-sized enterprises were operating in the capital, representing 99.1% of all enterprises in Chișinău. SMEs provide more than 334,000 jobs, which accounts for 61.6% of all employees in the Republic of Moldova. The total sales revenues of these enterprises exceeded 500 billion lei, accounting for 75% of the total turnover of all economic agents in the country.
The information was presented by Roman Vitiuc, Head of the General Directorate of Economy, Trade and Tourism, during the meeting of the Chișinău Municipal Council.
These data confirm the essential role of small and medium-sized enterprises in the economic development of Chișinău Municipality and the national economy as a whole.
