Roman Vitiuc: Young people must find the purpose of their lives here, in their country

29.07.2022

The City Hall of Chisinau has launched the Pilot Municipal Program “Startup for Young People and Migrants”.

The rapporteur on the draft decision, Roman Vitiuc, the head of the General Directorate of Economy, Trade and Tourism, stated that the financing program is only one tool among all the opportunities proposed to be realized during the coming years. In this sense, APL Chisinau proposes the creation of the educational HUB, in partnership with higher education institutions from Moldova (Academy of Economic Studies from Moldova or Technical University of Moldova), where training courses and development of young people’s capacities will be organized in business. Also, an IT hub is to be created, given the potential of the Information Technologies sector for the development of the national economy; creation of business incubators and accelerators; development of new financing programs.

The City Hall’s contribution is summarized, first and foremost, both in financial support and in the provision of documents that include the operational manual, the business plan, which must be presented. “If the young person successfully completes the participation form, he secures 25 percent of the points necessary to obtain the requested financing. I repeat: the goal is to facilitate young people’s access to business, so that they have the opportunity to develop a business at home, in the country, together with their parents, children, friends. And this should also contribute to the development of the municipality”, said Roman Vitiuc.

He added that the purpose of the program is to stimulate entrepreneurship among young people and migrants in Chisinau by facilitating the launch and development of sustainable businesses and supporting the creation of jobs. At the same time, the program aims to facilitate the access to necessary financial resources of young people and migrant workers, who want to establish or develop a business, by granting a non-refundable financial support in the maximum amount of 200 thousand lei. Another purpose of the program is to support young people who own a business and have made an investment from credit resources by compensating the value of the interest paid for the last 24 months, in a maximum amount of 100 thousand lei.
