The square in George Coșbuc Street, the Râșcani sector of the Capital, was laid out. So, the nearby residents, as well as other citizens of the municipality, have a public space for recreation.
According to Chisinau City Hall, the rehabilitation of the square included the reconstruction of pedestrian alleys and the renovation of green spaces, the installation of public pedestrian lighting and urban furniture. A children’s playground, bicycle parking and boots were also installed.
The layout concept of the square in G. Coșbuc str. was developed within the pilot project “Rethinking the public space. Citizens shape their future”, part of the Trilateral Agreement between the cities of Mannheim – Chisinau – Chernivtsi.
The initiative to redevelop the square in St. G. Coșbuc is carried out within the Trilateral Project of the cities of Mannheim – Chisinau – Chernivtsi, which involves the development and modeling of the social identity of the participating cities, by recreating public spaces in disadvantaged areas, through the collaboration of citizens with local authorities .
The City Hall of Chisinau, as well as the project partners from the neighboring country, hosted the official representatives from the twin cities: Mannheim and Chernivtsi at the inauguration event of the rehabilitated square.
