The Municipality of Chisinau is currently updating its General Urban Plan (Master Plan), a document that will establish the framework for the city’s development over the coming decades.
A Master Plan does not directly create jobs and does not replace economic policies. However, it can establish where and under what conditions economic activities, innovation and technology zones, industrial platforms, logistics and services can develop.
The “Economic Development” Background Study analyses the economic and territorial transformations of Chisinau from 2007 to the present and proposes directions that can serve as a basis for the new Master Plan.
These include protecting and regenerating economic areas, creating zones for technology and innovation, and better coordinating residential areas, jobs and infrastructure.
Public consultation is important to verify whether the analysis accurately reflects the reality of the municipality and whether the proposed directions respond to the city’s needs.
