The first Kaufland store in Chisinau

An important German company will invest 300 million euros in Moldova in the coming years and will create two thousand jobs. More precisely, 20 supermarkets will be opened in several localities in the country, and half of the products on the shelves will be domestic.

“The idea of expansion in the Republic of Moldova was born 5 years ago. Initially, we decided to start with 3 stores in Chisinau, and then to open a maximum of 6 more stores in the territory of the Republic of Moldova. Today we are already thinking about opening 20 stores throughout the country and, moreover, about building our own logistics center within the next 10 years. This is also due to the fact that in addition to reliable partners and the extraordinary quality of the constructions, we also found an extremely good investment climate and a safe legal framework that is comparable to that of other EU member states in Eastern Europe”, he said Marco Hößl, CEO Kaufland Romania & Moldova.

The Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Chisinau, Peter Michalko, sent a message in which he emphasized the importance of such a large European company coming to the Republic of Moldova. “This is proof that the Association and Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and Moldova creates conditions for the expansion of mutual trade, but also for the entry of European investors into the Republic of Moldova, thus bringing new jobs, new offers, new investments, but also better services for Moldovan customers”, emphasized Peter Michalko.
