Today, Roman Vitiuc, Head of the General Directorate of Economy, Trade and Tourism, held a meeting with David Baker, Economic Affairs and Programme Management Officer at the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) for Europe and Central Asia.
During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities to expand UNDRR’s technical assistance programmes for the Municipality of Chișinău, including the provision of expertise for the development of public policy documents and training modules aimed at strengthening the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises to enhance their resilience and business continuity in times of crisis.
In addition, together with UNDRR representatives and colleagues from the General Directorate of Economy, Trade and Tourism, priority actions to be identified and implemented under UNDRR’s new support programme, scheduled to be launched this autumn, were agreed upon.
Strengthening economic and institutional resilience is a strategic priority for the sustainable development of the Municipality of Chișinău. Cooperation with international partners contributes to increasing the capacity of the community and the business sector to respond effectively to challenges and crisis situations.
