Chisinau City Hall signed an agreement for financing the modernization of the waste management system.
The event is part of the implementation of the “Solid waste Chisinau” Project, for which the municipality negotiated with development partners in order to obtain financial sources for development.
The general financing plan of the project provides: loan EBRD – 9 million euros; grant EIB – 9 million euros; grant EBRD – 5 million euros. According to Mayor Ion Ceban, the “Solid Waste Chisinau” project is of vital importance for the capital, so the modernization of the waste collection, transport and storage service is imminent.
The loan and grant funds that will be used to implement the project include:
– the purchase of special vehicles for the collection and transportation of waste
– the purchase of containers
– construction of a waste transfer station with sorting line
– modernization of the waste deposit
– closure of the Ciocana landfill.
The project is proceeding according to the approved action plan. Procurement procedures were carried out and contracts were signed for the purchase of containers and special vehicles. In 2022, the development of the technical specifications for the closure of the Ciocana landfill and the construction of a waste transfer station with sorting lines began. In 2023, the already contracted goods will be delivered, as well as the signing of contracts for the delivery of 30 trucks with rear loading for the collection of municipal waste.
Also in 2023, tenders will be organized and contracts will be signed for the purchase of the works:
– construction of a sewage transfer station with sorting line
-modernization of the landfill from Șănțareni
– closing the Ciocana landfill.
As of 08.03.2023, 2384 European containers are delivered.
