On Wednesday, a contract was signed for the completion of works at Chișinău’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. The agreement was concluded between S.A. „Apă-Canal Chișinău” and the TURBOENERGY POWER & MASS joint venture, selected as the winner following an international procurement procedure.
The contract is worth more than 170 million lei, and the procurement procedure was conducted in accordance with the rules of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Chișinău General Mayor Ion Ceban highlighted the importance of this project for the capital’s environmental infrastructure, recalling the severely deteriorated condition of the plant in 2019 and the unpleasant odours that affected several districts of the city.
In the following years, efforts were made to maintain the plant’s operation and overcome the obstacles that had prevented the continuation of the works.
The signing of the new contract marks an essential step towards completing the plant’s modernization, making effective use of the investments made and ensuring the efficient operation of the wastewater treatment system.
The General Mayor thanked the international partners for their support to Chișinău Municipality: the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, the European Union and the Neighbourhood Investment Facility.
