Together with dozens of mayors from around the world, experts, and high-level officials, the Mayor discussed the urban challenges of the 21st century and modern solutions for city development.
During the forum, Ion Ceban presented the projects implemented by the municipality, future plans, and the long-term vision for the development of Chișinău.
The main directions addressed by the municipality include:
• integrating urban mobility into urban planning processes;
• using GIS systems and mobility data for evidence-based decision-making;
• developing infrastructure for public transport and active mobility;
• creating permanent coordination mechanisms between municipal departments;
• integrating SUMP objectives into annual investment and budgeting processes.
The project implemented in Chișinău is carried out with the support of within the initiative “Building Back Safe, Sustainable and Resilient Transport and Urban Mobility Systems in Western Balkan and Central Asian Landlocked Developing Regions”, financed by the United Nations Development Account.
Chișinău’s participation in World Urban Forum 13 represents an important opportunity to promote the capital’s strategic projects, exchange best practices with other local public administrations, and strengthen international cooperation in the field of sustainable urban development.
