The Chișinău City Hall informs that the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Chișinău Municipality has been approved. The document was adopted during the meeting of the Chișinău Municipal Council on March 23, 2026.
The SUMP is a strategic document that guides municipal authorities in implementing urban mobility activities at the city level.
Its main objective is to create a modern, efficient, and sustainable transport system, adapted to the needs of residents, while protecting the environment and addressing current challenges.
The SUMP also outlines the development of an integrated system combining public transport with pedestrian and cycling mobility, includes measures for parking management and road safety, promotes intermodal transport, and supports the use of smart solutions.
It should be noted that this document was developed between 2022 and 2024 within the “MOVE IT like Lublin” project — an initiative for the sustainable development of public transport in Chișinău Municipality, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Chișinău City Hall in partnership with the City of Lublin, Poland.
During this period, the SUMP underwent public consultations, hearings, workshops, and meetings with experts, councilors, and civil society representatives, while public presentations ensured citizen awareness and engagement.
