Chisinau City Hall and the municipal sanitation operator “Autosalubritate” announce that the second phase of the “Chisinau Solid Waste” project is progressing according to schedule.
This phase includes:
- Recultivation of the temporary landfill in the Ciocana sector (used for waste disposal between 2010 and 2017 – Lot I);
- Construction of a new transfer station equipped with a modern sorting line (Lot II).
This is the largest investment project in waste management infrastructure ever implemented in the Republic of Moldova, with a major impact on the quality of services provided.
At Lot I, landfill conservation works are underway: re-profiling, compacting, road construction, and technical studies for biogas potential.
Meanwhile, at Lot II, stripping of the topsoil has been completed, and earthworks are ongoing.
The investment in this phase exceeds 12 million euros, out of a total project budget of around 26 million euros. The project is funded by Chisinau City Hall, EBRD, EIB (MF), and the E5P Fund.
Project completion is scheduled for July 2026.
