The General Directorate of Economy, Trade and Tourism presents the Analysis of the main socio-economic indicators of Chisinau compared to other regions of the Republic of Moldova, for the year 2021, developed on the basis of statistical data.
Regional development in the Republic of Moldova aims to ensure a fair and uniform socio-economic progress in all development regions of the country, in order to create favorable conditions for improving the quality of life of citizens, attracting investments and increasing the volume of industrial production, capitalizing of the tourist potential and expansion of the entrepreneurial sphere at the regional level.
The examination of the economic situation of the development regions of the Republic of Moldova, in 2021, allows us to mention the following:
– the municipality of Chisinau is identified as an “absorption pole” of investments in fixed assets (66%); as a favorable “environment” for carrying out the activity of transporting passengers (51%) and goods (33.7%); as an “attraction point” for tourists staying in collective tourist reception structures (59.1%) and for the development of entrepreneurship (61.2%);
– the production manufactured by industrial enterprises in Chisinau constitutes 51.5% of the total production in the country, while the share of exported industrial production (24.2%), being lower compared to the other regions;
– only in the municipality of Chisinau, in 2021, the average gross monthly salary (10,965 lei) exceeds the threshold of the average monthly salary for the country (8,979.9 lei);
– the municipality of Chisinau continues to be the only region in the country with positive demographic dynamics, against the background of strong depopulation trends throughout the country;
– the Center region presents itself as a region with a relatively better economic performance than the other regions, registering an upward investment dynamic and a continuous development of the entrepreneurship sphere (16.7% of the total reporting enterprises in the country);
– the Northern region, in 2021, continues to have the highest productivity in agriculture, due to economic specialization and more favorable climatic conditions;
– the level of the gross average monthly salary in the Northern region was 7,162.9 lei, and the volume of manufactured industrial production (16,044.7 million lei) has a weight of 22.7% of the total manufactured industrial production per country;
– in the South region, in 2021, the lowest average monthly salary (6,841.3 lei) was recorded compared to the other regions and continues to be the most underdeveloped region in the country, characterized by the lowest level of urbanization and industrialization ( 4% of the total industrial production manufactured in the country);
– UTA Gagauzia registers a high level of the share of industrial production for export (56%) among all development regions.
