The “Chisinau Green City” strategy was presented at the “Invest in Chisinau” Forum as part of the framework plan for green cities.
The program aims to increase ecological performance and improve social-economic conditions in Chisinau.
The modernization of aqueduct and sewerage networks, the protection and arrangement of green urban spaces, the rehabilitation of the Bâc river, sustainability and energy efficiency, waste management, these were the main topics discussed during the event.
As an example of a green city, the experience of the city of Grenoble was presented, which received the title of Green Capital of Europe in 2022. At the same time, the experts also presented the best practices regarding the revitalization of cities, offered by the Institute for Regional and Urban Development in Warsaw, Poland.
The heads of municipal enterprises that provide services on the territory of the Chisinau municipality, SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, I.M. Regia “Autosalubritate”, I.M. The “Association of Green Space Management” etc. presented within the Forum the possibilities of collaboration with domestic economic agents, in order to obtain benefits for both parties.
SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” launched the proposal to collaborate with the business environment in the capital, in order to purchase sodium hypochlorite, used daily by the company to treat the water delivered to consumers. The company is also interested in partnerships regarding energy efficiency, the use of renewable resources and the utilization of sludge from the Treatment Plant.
Other collaborative initiatives announced by the municipal officials refer to the construction of new water and sewage networks, partnerships regarding municipal waste management, the revitalization of the Bac river bed, intelligent lighting, video surveillance, food in schools, the modernization of elevators, the development of the Green Theater, the reconstruction of the cable car and so on
The economic forum of the Chisinau municipality will continue tomorrow, with topics on urban mobility and tourism development.
