The “MOVE IT like Lublin” project – the initiative for the sustainable development of public transport in the city of Chisinau, financed by the European Union, is implemented on the basis of a partnership between the City Hall of Chisinau and the City Hall of Lublin in Poland.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The project will be implemented by 2025 and will provide support to transform the city’s public transport services into a more inclusive, safer, more resilient and sustainable transport system. The project provides for the improvement of urban transport policies at the municipal level; increasing the institutional capacities of Chisinau City Hall, in accordance with European Union practices in the field of urban mobility; increasing the quality of public transport management in Chisinau through sustainable innovative solutions and technologies. Additionally, within the project, a modern Traffic Monitoring Center will be established and a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for Chisinau will be developed. The project will also digitize operations such as e-ticketing and web applications for public transport, mirroring good practices in European Union cities, including Lublin. The total budget of the project is in the amount of 3,500,000 euros, of which 3,325,000 euros is the contribution of the European Union in the form of a grant, and 175,000 euros are allocated by the Chisinau City Hall.<\/p>\n

On July 26, 2022, the first meeting of the Public Transport Working Group took place. The event was organized in order to initiate the process of developing the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan.<\/p>\n

The sustainable urban mobility plan is one of the main expected results of the project and will be developed by a consortium of 5 international companies, led by CIVITTA Strategy & Consulting S.A.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by: the leadership of the City Hall, municipal councilors, representatives of the General Directorate of Public Transport and Communication, the General Directorate of Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations, the Project Implementation Unit, national and international experts, members of civil society.<\/p>\n

Branch vice-mayor Ilie Ceban, as vice-president of the working group, specified the importance of the development by the team of consultants of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, a strategic document for the municipality. At the same time, he mentioned the need for collaboration, by involving all interested parties, so that the final provisions of the document are applicable and effective for all beneficiaries.<\/p>\n

The “MOVE IT like Lublin” Project Manager, Octavian Lungu, informed the participants about the organization of the Working Group for Public Transport, its composition, duties and responsibilities of the members. He also mentioned that the Working Group is a consultative one and represents an important communication platform in the process of elaborating the transport strategy for the municipality of Chisinau.<\/p>\n

The sustainable urban mobility plan will be developed within 2 years and is a strategic document on integrated mobility with clear objectives and targets aimed at better accessibility and quality of life. The established working group will be actively involved in solving urban mobility problems in the municipality of Chisinau, including providing the necessary assistance in the process of drawing up the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan.<\/p>\n
